RE:VOLVE is a project developed by emergent, a collaborative social enterprise founded by Michael and Tommie Soro in 2021. The project will be delivered by Native Events, Ireland’s leading sustainable events solution company. It’s first pilot is at the Fleadh Cheoil Festival in 2022.

RE:VOLVE adopts a contemporary art approach and borrows from archipelagic thinking to redesign campsites as communities of practice engaged in collaborative acts of cultural change. Its aim is to foster environmentally and culturally sustainable behaviour in festival organisers, festival vendors and the public through architectural, social, cultural, organisational and commercial interventions in festival campsites.

As microcosms of society, bursting with untapped knowledge, skills and experience, festival campsites represent an opportunity to bring diverse groups together in the development of new ideas and new ways of doing things. RE:VOLVE is an open-ended project that uses reward systems and interactive technologies to encourage festival organisers, festival vendors and the public to participate in its ongoing development. Through a unique application produced by No Disco, these stakeholders help re-design the project’s approaches to campsite management, cultural programming, festival services, waste and energy management and vendor supply chains.

To facilitate the project’s development and to support others with similar goals, data from festival organisers, vendors, campsite visitors and local representatives is gathered through audits, surveys and interviews.
